Workshop on Data Handling

From June 9 to 11, 2004, in Beijing, UPOV organized a Workshop on data handling, in cooperation with the State Forestry Administration of China, the Ministry of Agriculture of China and the State Intellectual Property Office of China, with the financial assistance of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan.

The objective of the workshop was to provide participants with:

(a) an insight into the statistical and practical considerations to be taken into account when designing trials;

(b) a basic understanding of the statistical methods used for examining distinctness and uniformity;

(c) an introduction to the DUST software package;

(d) information on managing administrative information in the examination and granting of plant breeders? rights; and

(e) information on variety denominations and the Plant Variety Database
(UPOV-ROM).
